The Opportunity to Memorize

Each time that we do something that pleases God; however small or great it may be, we do so because it is Him through us, not because we want to or because we like to please Him, because the last thing that our flesh and fallen man wants to do is to please God in whatever it may be. It is God who puts within us those desires to please Him and He is the one who gives us the grace to bring those things to pass.
The fact that the Lord has given me the opportunity to memorize His Word and participate in Bible Quiz has been a great blessing for several reasons:
It is something beautiful because it fills our hearts with the words that He left for us; so much so that many times I found myself meditating or reviewing the passages to be memorized in my mind without it being my daily study time.
It is a precious opportunity to separate a time each day to write those words upon our hearts.
It is the best opportunity to meditate in his law day and night. Because many of us lie down at night meditating on what we memorize and when we wake up, in our minds we begin to continue going over what we learned the night before.
Phil 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS.”
...and the words that the Lord left for us have all these qualities, it is there when Bible Quiz becomes a great blessing, since it causes us to think on this.
As a young man, one of the realities that I have to recognize and accept is Psalm 119:9: “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.” That is the only way that our walk will be cleansed; and I believe that the best way to keep it in our hearts is through Bible Quiz, memorizing.
I just must ask the Lord that verses 10 and 11 of this Psalm might be a reality in my life, may it be the cry of my heart every day...
With my whole heart have I sought thee:
O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
