Importance of Worship

As the Bible describes for us, David did not only discover that God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3), but he also knew the praise and worship that are pleasing to the Lord. This last fact is confirmed in Acts 15:15–18, where James states that what the Lord was doing in the Church of Acts was rebuilding the Tabernacle of David. He said,

"And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world."

The Scripture above gives a clear picture to today’s Church of the importance of being conformed to the pattern established in the Tabernacle of David.

According to the Word of God, King David was a man after God’s own heart, and his life and his prophetic message given in the book of Psalms show us that the Lord’s dwelling place, that is, His Tabernacle, is made up of all those believers who participate in a love relationship with Christ. That relationship is evidenced by a righteous life and is expressed through prayer and praise.

It is necessary to recognize that the Lord is rebuilding, repairing, and raising up lives to build His dwelling place with them, and, therefore, He is seeking worshippers who worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). For this reason, Hebron Ministries emphasizes praise to God according to the biblical pattern, emphatically avoiding every form of worship that is a product of human imagination or of any national culture. Our goal must be to conform to heaven’s culture in every area of life, especially in the area of worship.

Our desire is that we be conformed to the pattern of worship that is found in heaven. King David spent time in God’s presence, and he learned to offer acceptable sacrifices of worship. As New Testament priests, we are called to do the same (1 Peter 2:5, Hebrews 13:15).
